#2 Emotional Wellness and Holistic Mental Health for Women (Saturday February 26th) Emotional resilience and mental health are critical to our overall wellbeing. Yet the challenges of stress, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, isolated, or out of “balance” erode our health on every level when left unchecked. In this workshop we focus on how chronic stress damages every system in our body and how it specifically affects our health as women-especially when facing the “superwoman syndrome” that has become all too common in our culture. We will explore mind-body tools and techniques that any woman can adjust into her busy life to feel more in control of her personal stress response as well as methods to improve sleep and restoration. This workshop will be presented in a trauma-informed approach to help women recognize the signs and implications of nervous system dysregulation. This afternoon of deep reflection, connection and learning will empower attendees to take steps to maintain or improve their overall wellbeing and sense of inner peace from the inside out. Gentle yoga practice, meditation, and breath work will be incorporated. Lourdes Wiley, MS, RN, RYT, LMT Lourdes has dedicated over 20 years to holding space for patients and students as an RN and Nurse Educator. Lourdes’s explorations have led to becoming a Yoga Teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Mind-Body Specialist. She holds various certifications in fitness, and herbal medicine. It is her passion to empower others to find their own internal “healer” and take charge of their holistic physical and mental wellness. Monica Schwingel, MS in teaching and learning, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Dance fitness instructor After a decade as an elementary school educator, Monica decided she wanted to continue her passion for teaching but with a new focus and demographic. Monica hopes to help other women overcome their fears and establish positive relationships with food.
